I want to drop my main course

I’m considering dropping my main course. I’m feeling utterly exhausted and frustrated with this class. It’s a requirement for my university, but no matter how hard I try, I just can’t seem to grasp the material. The highest grade I’ve managed on any test is 65%, and even then, I barely scraped by with an overall grade of 50%, which is essentially a failure. Now I’m in the Dash 30 course, the Grade 12 level, hoping for a better outcome, but despite all my studying and time spent trying to understand, I keep ending up with a DV2. It’s incredibly discouraging because it feels like my efforts are for nothing.

To make matters worse, I don’t know anyone in this class, so I feel really isolated in this struggle. Last week, during a group assignment, I was paired with a few girls who were quite rude to me, which made the situation even harder. Not only am I having a tough time academically, but I also lack the support of friends or peers to lean on. At this point, I’m just feeling completely overwhelmed and ready to give up.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It sounds like a tough situation, and it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed and frustrated. It’s important to remember that struggling in one class doesn’t define your abilities or worth. Have you considered reaching out for help? Sometimes talking to a teacher, tutor, or counselor can provide new perspectives and support. They might have resources to help you understand the material better or strategies to cope with the stress.

Also, finding a study group or connecting with classmates, even if it’s just one person, can make a big difference. It can help alleviate that feeling of isolation and lead to some camaraderie. You’re not alone in this, and there are people who want to help. Even though it feels tough right now, don’t hesitate to seek support—there’s no shame in asking for it. Keep pushing through, and take it one step at a time. You’ve got this!
