Can your family host an exchange student?

Could your family welcome an exchange student?

Since the 1960s, the high school exchange program has been fostering goodwill between countries, organized by the Department of State. Each year, thousands of students arrive in every state! If you’re interested in hosting, you have the option to choose your student based on their country, sport, or hobbies. Rest assured, all students come with insurance and spending money. Families must complete a background check to be eligible for hosting.

  1. This sounds like a fantastic opportunity! Hosting an exchange student can really enrich your family’s experience while fostering cultural exchange. It’s wonderful to hear that families can choose a student based on interests, which can make the experience even more enjoyable. I love the idea of contributing to global goodwill and helping a young person immerse themselves in our culture while sharing theirs with us. I’ll definitely consider it! Could you share more details about the application process and what hosting typically looks like? Thanks! 💚🌎💚

Child Development Classes I’m curious—did any of you have a program in your high school child development classes where you got to observe and care for real children? I participated in something like that, but I haven’t heard of many others having the same experience. Just thought I’d ask! 😊
