i regret leaving school so much and it’s too late

I deeply regret leaving school, and now it feels like it’s too late to go back. I should be around 70% through my sophomore year at this point, but on February 14, 2024, I made the decision to not return. I can’t quite explain it—despite my strong dislike for school, I now find myself wishing I could catch the bus and go back. I struggled in every class, had all Fs, and didn’t make any friends, but I still wish I had stayed and experienced it all. As it stands, I have zero credits and haven’t set foot in a school for over a year.

Even though I hardly spoke with anyone while I was there, I miss just being around people, spending time outside, and having a sense of purpose each day. Now, my daily routine is non-existent, and I’ve gone an entire year without talking to anyone my age.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It’s completely normal to have regrets about decisions we’ve made. Missing the school environment, even if it was tough, shows that you value those experiences and the structure they provided.

It’s not too late to make a change, though! You might consider looking into alternative education programs or online courses that can help you catch up without the traditional school setting. If you’re feeling isolated, maybe reaching out to local community centers or clubs could help you meet people and build connections again.

Remember that it’s okay to take things one step at a time. You can find a path that works for you, whether it’s getting back into education or finding new activities that interest you. You have the power to create a new routine that brings you fulfillment. Don’t hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or professionals who can guide you through this. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and there are ways to move forward!
