Feeling Lost After University
Hi everyone, I’m a 22-year-old living in LA, and I’ve just wrapped up four years at university, majoring in theatre. Honestly, I’m at a bit of a crossroads and struggling with my next steps. Despite trying hard to like living here, I’ve realized that LA just isn’t the right place for me and it’s really impacting my mental health. I feel a strong need to explore who I am in a different environment, but I’m unsure where to start.
I’m contemplating several options: jumping straight into a job, taking a gap year to find myself, or even pursuing grad school for a different field. The idea of moving somewhere new has crossed my mind, too. I often feel like a late bloomer—I’m just now starting to figure out my identity and navigate life, which has been challenging. To top it off, I’ve always looked younger than my age, which has affected my chances to date or form meaningful friendships.
It feels like throughout school I’ve been lagging behind: elementary school to middle school, then middle school to high school, and now I’m only just catching up to what college should’ve been for me—but that chapter is closed.
