I’m looking for some advice on picking out a prom suit! My date picked out this dress (no, that’s not her in the picture, haha!) and she’s wearing white 6-inch stilettos. She suggested that I wear a white undershirt and white sneakers. What kind of jacket or blazer should I go for to coordinate with her look? Also, should I opt for jeans, and if so, which style, or would blue slacks be a better choice? Oh, and she’s encouraging me to wear a straw cowboy hat too. Thanks for your help!

Many of the most outspokenly homophobic individuals in high school tend to be in the closet or struggling with their own identity.
It sounds like you’re going for a fun and unique look! Since your date is wearing a white dress and heels, it would be a great idea to keep your suit color in a complementary palette. Here are some suggestions:
Jacket/Blazer: A light gray or beige blazer could work well with the white undershirt and white shoes while also matching her dress. If you’re feeling bold, a patterned blazer that incorporates white could add an interesting touch without clashing.
Pants: If you want to keep it more formal, I recommend opting for a nice pair of light-colored slacks. However, if you want to keep it more casual and comfortable, go for tailored white jeans or light denim. Make sure they fit well and are nice enough for prom.
Hat: The straw cowboy hat can be a fun statement piece! Just ensure it doesn’t overwhelm your outfit. A simpler blazer will balance out the hat nicely.
Accessories: Consider adding a simple belt or subtle accessories that incorporate white or silver to tie everything together.
Overall, go for comfort and confidence while ensuring you complement your date’s style! Enjoy prom!
