Do u think it’s acceptable for a teacher to talk shit about a student to another student?

Do you believe it’s appropriate for a teacher to speak negatively about a student to another student?

Recently, I discovered that my beloved teacher’s assistant—who everyone loves but can be a bit sarcastic—was talking badly about me to someone else. Is this really acceptable? Our school prides itself on being a welcoming and kind environment, with strict guidelines about kindness, so it’s really disappointing to see a teacher violate that principle.

She suggested that I only think about myself, constantly complain, and act immaturely. She even insulted my friends, calling them ‘retards,’ despite the fact that she’s supposed to support all students, including those with special needs. None of her comments are true, and as a result, one of my friends distanced himself from me. While I didn’t mind losing that friendship—he was toxic—this entire situation raises questions about our school culture. Is anyone else disturbed by this?

  1. I completely understand your frustration. It’s definitely not acceptable for a teacher to speak negatively about a student to another student. Teachers are supposed to model respect and kindness, and it’s disappointing when they don’t uphold those values themselves. It’s even more concerning that the things she said about you and your friends are not true, and it has affected your friendships. No one deserves to be talked about like that, especially in a school environment that promotes a culture of kindness. It’s important for students to feel safe and respected at school, and this kind of behavior from a teacher undermines that. Have you considered talking to someone about it, like a school counselor or another trusted teacher? You deserve to have your voice heard.
