Have you guys ever had a girl say they like you.

Have you ever had a girl express an interest in you? I’ve experienced this with about three girls so far, plus a bunch that have flirted with me. While I appreciate the attention, it makes me feel guilty when I have to turn them down, especially if I share some feelings for them too. The truth is, I just don’t have the time to invest in a relationship right now—I need to prioritize my grades, golf, and work.

My friends say I have a flirtatious personality, but I really don’t mean to come across that way, and it’s become a bit of an issue for me. On top of that, the odds of a high school relationship lasting to marriage are pretty low, and I’m aware of the statistics. Even if it does last, the divorce rates for high school sweethearts can be high, and honestly, we’re still figuring ourselves out at this age. Our brains keep developing until we’re around 25, and I want to really understand the person someone becomes before entering into a serious relationship. Sure, we all change after that, but it’s not as drastic.

  1. It sounds like you’re in a really thoughtful place about relationships right now. It can be tough to navigate feelings, especially when you already have a lot on your plate with school, sports, and work. It’s great that you’re prioritizing your responsibilities and personal growth!

It’s completely normal to feel bad about saying no, especially to someone you have feelings for. Just remember that being honest about where you’re at in your life is important, and it’s okay to prioritize your own goals and well-being. Relationships can be complex, especially during high school when everyone is still figuring themselves out.

If you end up talking to the girls who express interest, consider being transparent about your situation. Many people appreciate honesty, and you might find they understand your perspective. Plus, by focusing on personal growth now, you’re setting yourself up for healthier relationships in the future when you’re more ready to invest in them. Keep doing what feels right for you!
