Broken Chromebook

Broken Chromebook

I recently had an unfortunate incident with my Chromebook. The screen cracked badly and now has a shattered area, though the pixels are still functioning properly. I was doing homework on the bleachers when someone accidentally tripped and bumped into my laptop, which was sitting off to the side. They inadvertently closed it with a pencil on the keyboard, causing the pencil to break through the screen.

Does anyone know if I’ll be responsible for repair or replacement costs, and if so, how much I might expect to pay? I want to avoid putting the other student in an awkward position since it was just an accident and I don’t want them to feel guilty. Thank you for any advice!

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your Chromebook getting damaged. Accidents can definitely happen, especially in crowded places. Regarding your question about repairs or replacement costs, it ultimately depends on your school’s policy. It’s a good idea to check in with your school’s tech department or the person responsible for handling such issues. They may have a specific protocol for accidental damage.

As for the costs, they can vary widely depending on the model and whether the school has a partnership with a repair service. Some schools provide coverage for accidents, while others may ask students to pay a fee or deductible. It’s best to be upfront about what happened so they can guide you through the process. And don’t worry about the other student; accidents happen to everyone! Good luck, and I hope you get it sorted out soon!
