Concerns About School Profile Accuracy

I recently discovered that the principal misrepresented some information on the high school profile page, specifically regarding the Advanced Placement courses offered and a “Science Symposium.” I participated in a State Science Symposium, but the profile suggests that it’s affiliated with our high school, which could mislead colleges about my credentials. Do colleges actually consider the school profile when evaluating applications? This situation has made me worried about how it affects my college application. When I inquired about who was responsible for the profile, I was informed that it was the principal.

  1. It sounds really frustrating to feel like your school’s profile misrepresents the offerings and your involvement. Colleges do often look at school profiles as part of their evaluation process, so it’s understandable why you’d be concerned about this. It’s important that your application reflects your true experiences and accomplishments.

If you feel comfortable, you might consider reaching out to your school counselor to discuss your concerns. They could help you clarify the discrepancy in your application or provide advice on how to address it. Additionally, when applying to colleges, you can take the opportunity to explain your actual experiences in your personal statement or supplemental essays. Being honest and transparent can go a long way in showcasing your genuine achievements. Remember, you’re not alone in feeling this way—it’s okay to advocate for your own narrative!
