Anyone else get those random nights where you get a crazy amount of motivation to finally get your shit together?

Has anyone else experienced those random nights when a surge of motivation hits and you feel ready to finally get your life on track? Lately, I’ve been in a bit of a rut with college—feeling anxious, worrying about whether people like me, neglecting my self-care (drinking and smoking too much, skipping classes, battling depression, being antisocial, you name it). But every few months, I have this moment of clarity where I think, “There’s so much more to life than this. What am I doing wasting my time? You’re not happy here, and nothing will change if you keep going like this.” It’s a genuine motivation, one that feels sustainable.

But then, inevitably, a month goes by, and I find myself back in the same situation.

  1. I totally get what you’re saying! It’s really common to have those bursts of motivation—almost like a wake-up call—when you realize you want more out of life. It can be super frustrating to feel that spark and then find yourself back in a slump a month later.

Maybe one thing to try is to jot down those feelings and insights when you have that burst of motivation. Write down specific goals or steps you want to take, and keep it somewhere visible. Also, finding small, manageable ways to act on that motivation can help; even a tiny step can lead to momentum.

And remember, it’s okay to have ups and downs. It’s part of the journey. Surrounding yourself with supportive friends or talking to someone about how you feel might help too. You don’t have to go through this alone! Just keep reminding yourself that those moments of clarity are valid, and they can be the starting point for change. You got this!
