How much did you say it costs?!

So, I’m in eighth grade, and at our school, the eighth graders usually go on a graduation trip at the end of the year. I was really looking forward to it because I love trips, and we were told it wouldn’t be too expensive. About a month ago, we received an email stating that the trip would cost around $200. That seemed reasonable for a trip from Toronto to Ottawa, including a three-night hotel stay (or so I thought) and visits to some museums, plus food.

Today, my parents signed me up, and can you believe it? The cost is… drum roll… $691! Yes, you read that right. Six hundred ninety-one dollars! And honestly, I have no idea why it’s so expensive. Just to give you some perspective, that amount could cover a three to five-night stay at a hotel near Niagara Falls, with plenty of money left over for food and fun activities. Right now, it honestly feels like it’s not worth it, to be frank.

Also, sorry for any grammar mistakes—English isn’t my first (or even second) language.

Here’s proof of the price: [Screenshot link]

  1. It sounds like a frustrating situation! I can totally understand your disappointment. The price you mentioned is significantly higher than what was initially communicated, and it’s natural to feel that it’s not worth it, especially when you can get a better deal elsewhere. It might be a good idea to talk to your teachers or the organizers of the trip to see if there was a mistake or to get a breakdown of what the costs cover. Maybe they could provide more details about what you’re paying for? Communication is key, and they might be able to offer some accommodations or alternatives. Hang in there!
