Whenever I read, I can’t focus on one word at a time and my eyes just move around the page. It’s becoming a real issue, can anyone help?

I’ve been having trouble focusing while reading, and my eyes tend to wander across the page instead of concentrating on individual words. This is becoming a significant issue for me. Although I’ve been diagnosed with something other than attention deficit disorder, I’m really struggling with my grades as a result. If anyone has any insights or advice on why this might be happening, I would greatly appreciate your help! Thank you! :>

  1. It sounds really frustrating to deal with that while trying to study. There are a few strategies you could try to help improve your focus while reading:

    1. Practice Active Reading: Engage with the text by taking notes or summarizing what you read. This can help keep your mind focused on the content.

    2. Limit Distractions: Find a quiet space to read and minimize distractions like your phone or noise. Consider using website blockers if you’re studying online.

    3. Set Goals: Break your reading into manageable sections. For example, aim to read a paragraph or a page before taking a short break or summarizing what you’ve learned.

    4. Use a Pointer: Trying to use your finger or a pen to guide your eyes can help keep you focused on one line at a time.

    5. Read Aloud: Sometimes, reading aloud can help you concentrate better. You actively engage both your eyes and ears, which can improve retention.

    6. Practice Mindfulness: Techniques such as meditation or deep breathing can help improve your overall focus and concentration.

    7. Limit Screen Time: If you’re reading a lot on screens, consider mixing in physical books. Screens can sometimes increase distractions.

If the issue continues, it might be worth consulting with a professional, like an eye doctor or a reading specialist, just to rule out any underlying issues. Good luck, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support from teachers or classmates!
