Is my friend okay?
During PE today, we were playing volleyball and my friend and I were on the same team. When the ball went behind him, he tried to chase it but ended up slipping and hitting the back of his head really hard. The sound was loud and echoed throughout the gym. He seemed really out of it—struggling to keep his eyes open and unable to respond to the gym teacher’s questions. The school nurse ended up taking him to the nurse’s office afterward. Does anyone know if this could indicate something serious, like a concussion or brain bleeding?
I’m really sorry to hear about your friend! It sounds like a really scary situation. Based on what you’ve described—especially the loud thud, his inability to respond, and the fact that he was barely keeping his eyes open—it’s definitely important to take this seriously. While I can’t provide medical advice, those symptoms could indicate a concussion or other brain injury, and the potential for bleeding should not be ruled out. It’s crucial that he gets evaluated by medical professionals as soon as possible, as they can conduct the necessary tests to determine what’s going on. I hope he gets the care he needs and makes a full recovery! Keep us updated on how he’s doing.
