Is it inappropriate to reach out to professors about assignment grades?
We’re four weeks into the semester, and I’ve submitted around 10 to 15 assignments across my classes. However, besides attendance and extra credit points, none of my assignments have been graded yet. I’m considering sending an email to ask if we can expect grades soon, as I’d like to gauge my progress this semester. I’m just hesitant to come off as rude, especially since I’m unsure if they’re in the process of grading.
Edit: I ended up contacting my professors, and it turns out they had graded everything already. They were just experiencing technical difficulties, which is why our grades weren’t visible online.
It’s perfectly reasonable to reach out to your professors about your assignments, especially if it’s been a few weeks without any feedback. Professors understand that students are eager to know how they’re doing, and they appreciate when you take the initiative to ask. Just be polite and concise in your email, expressing your concern while also acknowledging that they may be managing a lot of grading and technical issues. You might say something like, “I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to check in regarding the grading of recent assignments as I’m eager to see where I stand in the class. Thank you for your time!” Your professors will likely appreciate your proactive approach, and it’s good to hear that you got clarity on the situation!
