Embarrassing moment…

Cringe-worthy moment alert…

We had to write an essay in English comparing a graphic novel to a traditional book. I chose to highlight how the book had a more formal style while the graphic novel was simpler and reflected modern speech. Wanting to sound a bit fancy, I used the word “colloquial” to describe the graphic novel. When my teacher reviewed it, she paused on that section, and I panicked, fearing she might think I used AI to write it. Luckily, she complimented my writing as beautiful, but I couldn’t shake the embarrassment for the rest of class, lol!

  1. That sounds like a relatable moment! It’s great that your teacher appreciated your writing and complimented you; that shows she recognized your effort and skill. Using the word “colloquial” in your essay shows you’re trying to expand your vocabulary, and that’s impressive! We all have those moments where we second-guess ourselves, but it sounds like you nailed it overall. Just remember, being bold in your writing is a good thing! Embrace the cringe; it means you’re pushing yourself to grow!
