As a first-year college student, I absolutely adore the campus and the tutors; my overall experience has been fantastic. However, my class environment, particularly my classmates, leaves much to be desired.
The constant interruptions are overwhelming. It happens frequently, with some students shouting and talking over the tutors to the point of being disrespectful, causing them to be asked to leave the room. This disruption occurs during both theory and practical sessions, making it difficult for myself and others to focus and learn effectively.
I’m performing well academically, nearly finishing my course with just one assignment left due by June 20th. In contrast, many in my class are lagging significantly, with only around 10% of the work completed. They have openly stated their lack of interest in learning, yet they continue to disrupt the class environment.
I’m looking for advice on how to cope with this situation. The distractions have been stressful and are starting to affect others in the class as well.
For what it’s worth, I’ve already raised my concerns with the course leader, who mentioned they would “keep an eye on them” but has not taken any concrete action yet. I’ve even taken a couple of days off to emphasize that my absence was due to these disruptions. Any tips on handling this frustrating situation would be greatly appreciated!
