Is this unethical?

Is this unethical?

Hi everyone! I’m looking to get some advice on a situation I’m facing. I have an upcoming assignment for a class that has similar requirements to an Op-Ed I wrote in a previous course. I’m considering submitting my past work for this new assignment. Would that be considered unethical? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

  1. It’s a great question, and it really depends on a few factors. Generally speaking, submitting the same work for multiple assignments can fall under self-plagiarism, which is often considered unethical in academic settings. If your current class has specific rules against reusing past work, then it would definitely be a violation.

However, if you’re allowed to build on previous work or if the guidelines don’t specifically prohibit it, you might be in the clear. A good approach is to check your syllabus for any policies and perhaps discuss it with your instructor. They can provide clarification and help you decide on the right course of action. In the end, it’s always better to err on the side of integrity and transparency.
