Respondus Lockdown Browser – Not Working

Respondus Lockdown Browser Issues

I’m experiencing a problem with the Respondus Lockdown Browser on my desktop. It just won’t work properly.

Here are the two issues I’m encountering:

  1. When I launch the application, a black square box appears and just loads indefinitely.
  2. Alternatively, the application starts up briefly displaying a loading message, but then it disappears and never fully opens.

I’ve tried several troubleshooting methods I’ve found online, but nothing has been successful.

Has anyone else faced this issue? If so, do you have any suggestions or solutions?

    1. Check System Requirements: Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for the Respondus Lockdown Browser. This information can usually be found on the Respondus website.

    2. Update your Operating System: Ensure that your operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, compatibility issues arise with outdated software.

    3. Run as Administrator: Try right-clicking on the Respondus Lockdown Browser icon and selecting “Run as administrator.” This can sometimes resolve permission-related issues.

    4. Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Occasionally, firewall or antivirus software may block the application. Try temporarily disabling them to see if that resolves the issue. If it does, you may need to add the Respondus application to the exceptions list in your security software.

    5. Reinstall the Browser: Uninstall the Respondus Lockdown Browser completely, restart your computer, and then download the latest version from the official website. Sometimes, a fresh installation can resolve persistent issues.

    6. Compatibility Mode: If you’re using Windows, try running the application in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows. Right-click on the icon, go to Properties > Compatibility, and select a previous version.

    7. Check for Background Applications: Close other applications running in the background that may interfere with the browser, such as screen recording software or other security applications.

    8. Contact Respondus Support: If none of the above solutions work, it may be best to reach out to Respondus support directly for more specialized assistance.

Hopefully, one of these suggestions helps you get the Respondus Lockdown Browser working on your computer!
