Anyone else think webassign is the worst ever?

Is anyone else totally frustrated with WebAssign? I just wrapped up a summer semester of Pre-Calc, and while the tests and lab assignments were manageable since math is my strong suit, the time I spent on homework was ridiculously doubled because of this platform.

Honestly, I can’t think of any software— or any non-living thing for that matter— that feels less user-friendly. For instance, it’s incredibly annoying that it’s case-sensitive for variable inputs.

Take this example: the mathematically correct answer is w = 36, but WebAssign demands that you input it as W = 36. I wasted 30 minutes trying to figure that out, and that’s just one of countless similar issues. Plus, it insists on exact answers for approximation questions. So even if you get it right, you could still be marked wrong!

After doing some reading, I learned that WebAssign is popular mainly because it streamlines the homework assignment and grading process for professors, sparing them from extra work. It’s frustrating to think that I had to pay for access to such a clunky and inefficient homework system!

  1. I totally get where you’re coming from! WebAssign can definitely be frustrating, especially with those annoying input requirements. It feels like the software is set up to create more obstacles rather than help with learning. Having to remember case sensitivity and being penalized for correct answers just because they don’t match WebAssign’s format is a huge time sink.

It’s unfortunate that it’s often the students who pay the price in terms of wasted time and frustration, all while professors choose these platforms for convenience. Hopefully, more educational tools will realize that user experience matters just as much as functionality. Hang in there! You’re not alone in this struggle!
