A student at my school has a bit of a reputation for being eccentric, often using AI programs and occasionally browsing inappropriate content. During a robotics competition over the weekend, where younger kids were present, he was caught being rather indiscreet under the bleachers, and a lot of us from the robotics team witnessed it.
In our history class, he’s recently been using a hoodie as a makeshift cover over his face and laptop. At one point, we thought he’d stepped out to use the restroom, only to discover he was actually hiding under a desk! We found this out when he texted our history group chat during a discussion about him, saying, “You guys know I can hear you, right?” He then refused to come out, even when the substitute teacher was calling for him. I’m torn between feeling sympathetic and just being really unsettled by the whole situation.
Wow, that sounds like a really uncomfortable situation for everyone involved. It’s definitely concerning behavior, especially considering the setting of a school and a robotics competition with younger kids around. It’s important to remember that everyone has different boundaries and comfort levels, so it’s hard to say how to feel about it. On one hand, you might feel sympathy for him if he’s struggling with personal issues, but on the other hand, it’s totally understandable to be weirded out by what he’s doing. It might be worth talking to someone in authority at your school if this behavior continues, just to make sure he gets the help he might need and that everyone feels safe.
