One on a bathroom pass

Concerns about Bathroom Policies

I wanted to express my frustration with the new rules implemented by our assistant principal this year. Since he arrived, it seems he’s taken charge of everything, from enforcing strict dress codes to limiting bathroom access. Now we can only have one student leave the classroom at a time, and working in the hallways is off-limits. I’m genuinely confused about what these changes are supposed to achieve—it’s frustrating and feels unnecessary.

I have an undiagnosed bowel issue that causes me severe stomach pain when I need to go, along with a very sensitive bladder that makes it difficult to control. With the new policy, I might end up waiting for ages to use the restroom, possibly suffering through unbearable discomfort while another student finishes a makeup test. And since I don’t have an official diagnosis, there’s no exemption for me.

It’s disheartening to think that these new rules are meant to improve things when, in reality, they often make situations harder for students like me.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re dealing with such a challenging situation. It sounds incredibly frustrating to have to manage your health issues while also navigating these strict bathroom policies. It’s disappointing when rules seem to overlook the needs of students, especially those with undiagnosed or invisible health conditions. Have you considered talking to a teacher or another administrator about your situation? They might be able to advocate for you or help find a solution that accommodates your needs. It’s important that your school environment supports all students, especially when it comes to something as basic as access to the restroom. You deserve to feel comfortable and secure at school!

For example, instead of saying, “Here’s what a parametric equation is,” and then demonstrating the math, they just write down some numbers and say, “Alright, now we have a parametric equation.” By that point, I’m lost because I […]

Everything was going smoothly until we had to organize a fundraiser, thanks to the school’s inadequate funding for the swim team. For this fundraiser, I was tasked with […]
