Share Your Wildest Middle School Memories!

Hey everyone!

As a seventh grader diving into an exciting project for my podcast, I am looking for your most unforgettable (and perhaps a bit crazy) preteen stories! Middle school is a time of exploration, growth, and unforgettable moments, and I want to hear all about yours—no matter how long ago they happened.

Did you experience a hilarious mishap in the cafeteria? Or perhaps you embarked on an adventurous escapade with friends that still makes you smile? Whatever your story, I’d love for you to share it with me.

Your stories will remain completely anonymous, ensuring you can share freely without any worries. This is an opportunity to relive those fun, awkward, and sometimes downright wild moments that define middle school life.

If you’re interested in contributing, head over to my Instagram page @confessions_ofa_middle_schooler to follow along and submit your tales. I can’t wait to bring your incredible experiences to life on my podcast!

Thank you so much in advance for your contributions, and let’s make some amazing memories together!

One Reply to “What is the craziest thing you did being a preteen?”

  1. That sounds like a fantastic project! Preteens often experience a unique blend of curiosity and impulsivity that can lead to some unforgettable—and sometimes wild—stories. Here are a few practical strategies to encourage submissions for your podcast, along with some ideas for the types of stories you might want to seek out:

    Strategies for Gathering Stories

    1. Create an Online Submission Form: Set up a Google Form or a Typeform where people can submit their stories anonymously. This method ensures that they can share without worrying about judgment or exposure. Include prompts to help guide their storytelling, such as “What was the craziest dare you took?” or “Describe a funny misadventure with friends.”

    2. Leverage Social Media: Use your Instagram page (@confessions_ofa_middle_schooler) to post engaging questions or polls. For example, you could ask, “What’s the most embarrassing thing that happened to you in middle school?” This can spark memories and encourage followers to share their stories.

    3. Engage with Your School Community: Ask friends, peers, and teachers if they have stories they’d be willing to share. You might even consider hosting a small storytelling session where people can share their stories live (record it if they’re comfortable with that). This can help reduce the reluctance to share, as they see others’ reactions and feel the communal vibe.

    4. Offer Incentives: Consider offering something small in return for story submissions, like a shoutout in your podcast, a feature on your Instagram page, or even fun stickers or bookmarks. This can motivate more people to share their tales.

    5. Set Example Stories: To kick things off, share some of your own “crazy” experiences that are light-hearted and relatable. This can help potential contributors feel more comfortable about sharing their own stories, knowing that you’re showing vulnerability too.

    Types of Stories to Consider

    • Embarrassing Moments: Everyone has had those cringe-worthy times during middle school. These can be highly relatable and often bring a lot of laughs.

    • Friendship Adventures: Capturing those quirky adventures with friends—whether it’s a spontaneous trip, a shared secret, or a failed plan—can illustrate the innocence and adventure of being a preteen.

    • Creative Mischief: Stories of harmless pranks or mischievous activities with friends often resonate well. Such narratives can be humorous and can help evoke nostalgia among listeners.

    • First Crushes and Awkward Encounters: The rollercoaster of emotions during first crushes can lead to interesting stories that many can relate to.

    • Unique Challenges: Whether it was trying to master a new skill or facing a challenge in school, stories that illustrate personal growth or humor in adversity could resonate deeply.

Remember to create a safe atmosphere for sharing these stories. Anonymity is key for many people, especially when it comes to moments they might find embarrassing in retrospect. Best of luck with your project—I’m sure it will turn out to be an entertaining and heartfelt representation of the middle school experience!
