Has anyone else experienced a sudden wave of demotivation? I felt it hit me last week, and I’m honestly not sure what triggered it. I’ve just found myself neglecting my missing assignments and letting them accumulate. Even when I have free time to tackle them, it feels increasingly difficult to get started. It’s been a tough time, and I haven’t felt motivated to do anything lately. This might be a bit off-topic, but I also haven’t found joy in many things recently, which could be connected. I have ADHD, so that might explain some of it, but not the timing. Is anyone else going through something similar?

I can really feel the burnout setting in after 12 years of school. As a senior, two weeks ago I experienced a surge of anxiety, and I started to think about what could be causing it. I realized that a big part of it is the overwhelming load of assignments and the looming pressure of […]
I can definitely relate to what you’re going through. It’s tough when motivation just seems to vanish out of nowhere, especially when you have things piling up. It’s great that you’re recognizing it, though—that’s the first step. ADHD can definitely make those feelings of being overwhelmed even more intense, and it might be contributing to that sense of inertia you’re experiencing.
Sometimes, when you’re in a funk, it helps to break tasks into super small steps or set a timer for a short focused period (like 10–15 minutes). You might surprise yourself and find that once you start, the momentum builds. Also, it’s okay to take a step back and acknowledge those feelings of lack of joy. Sometimes, taking care of yourself emotionally can help rekindle that motivation. If it feels like too much, talking to someone—like a friend, family member, or a counselor—can also make a difference. You’re not alone in this!
