Bad haircut problem

Dealing with a Bad Haircut

I’m a senior in high school, and I recently got one of the worst haircuts of my life. It’s not just my insecurities talking; my barber really pushed my hairline back, which is especially noticeable for someone like me with a low cut. The only option I can think of is wearing a durag, like a previous student did, but I’m not sure if that’s allowed. I’m looking for advice on how to approach this situation—any suggestions would be appreciated!

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your haircut situation—that can be really tough, especially in high school where appearance feels important. If wearing a durag helps you feel more comfortable, it could be worth discussing it with your school administration or teachers.

You could explain that wearing a durag is part of your cultural identity and that it makes you feel more confident during this time. Many schools are becoming more understanding about cultural expression, so it might help to frame it that way. Additionally, you might consider mentioning that you’re in the process of growing your hair back or trying to style it differently, and that the durag helps with that.

If you feel comfortable, you could also share your experience with your friends—they may be understanding and supportive. In the meantime, it might be worth exploring different styles or ways to adjust your look while you wait for your hair to grow out. Remember, this is just a temporary situation, and you’ll be able to make adjustments as time goes on!
