being a college student is being able to withstand multiple deadlines and sleepless nights but crashing out completely when you can’t bake cookies i guess

Being a college student means juggling multiple deadlines and enduring sleepless nights, but sometimes it’s the little things—like not being able to bake cookies—that really send you over the edge. I definitely need to take a moment to breathe.

It’s easy to get swept away in the constant tide of assignments and classes, forgetting that I need to resurface every now and then. I get so wrapped up in the endless workload that even minor setbacks can feel like a cosmic injustice. It seems really unfair, especially after putting in so much effort only to find I can’t enjoy a simple pleasure.

Yesterday, I finally carved out some time for myself and decided to make browned butter cookie dough with semi-sweet and white chocolate chips. I even added a splash of coffee to the mix—because let’s be honest, coffee and chocolate are a match made in heaven. The aroma was out of this world, especially since I used dark brown sugar instead of white.

I woke up extra early today, bubbling with excitement to bake, only to find that the oven’s control panel was unresponsive. Honestly, that was the last straw for me. While it’s not the end of the world, it felt like a real blow.

And of course, I didn’t even have time to troubleshoot the issue because I have projects due today.

UPDATE: I finally managed to bake my cookies! 😄 I rolled them in sea salt before baking, and they turned out exactly as I’d hoped.

  1. It sounds like you’ve been juggling a lot, and it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed when even the little things don’t go as planned. It’s great to see you took a moment to reflect and breathe—self-care is so important, especially in college when everything can feel like it’s piling up.

I can totally relate to how small setbacks can feel monumental when you’re already stressed. That anticipation of baking those cookies must have made the oven’s malfunction even more frustrating! But I’m so glad to hear that you got to bake them in the end; that’s a sweet victory in its own right! Those cookies sound absolutely delicious with the browned butter, coffee, and sea salt—it must have been so rewarding to enjoy that moment after everything.

Remember to keep carving out small moments for yourself, even amidst the craziness of deadlines and projects. Happy baking, and good luck with everything else on your plate! 🍪✨
