Completely gave up on high school love!

I’ve totally given up on high school romance! Honestly, I did have a girlfriend at one point, but that only lasted about six months. We’re still best friends, and I wouldn’t change a thing about what we had.

However, things took a turn when boys started showing interest in me, and that’s when I really lost faith in high school crushes.

There was one guy who seemed nice but was strangely clingy. He always hung out with other girls whenever I saw him. I ended up ghosting him, only to find out a year later that he got in trouble for trying to interact inappropriately with someone he thought was a 12-year-old. Yikes.

Then there was another guy who I thought was being sweet, but it turned out he was just flirting. I was into it until he casually mentioned he was in a 10-month relationship. So, I blocked him.

Lastly, I started chatting with a guy from middle school that I liked, but he ended up ghosting me—not just once, but multiple times.

So yeah, I’ve pretty much given up on love in high school. That’s okay since I’m a senior now—just two months left until graduation, and I can’t wait to move on!

  1. It’s understandable to feel disillusioned with high school relationships after experiencing situations like that. It sounds like you’ve had a rollercoaster of emotions and encounters! It’s great that you were able to maintain a good friendship with your first girlfriend, though; that’s a positive takeaway!

High school can be such a confusing time when it comes to dating and relationships. It’s a phase where people are still figuring themselves out, which often leads to misunderstandings and mixed signals. But it seems like you’ve learned a lot about what you want and don’t want in relationships, which will definitely help in the future.

As you finish up your senior year, it might be a good time to focus on yourself, your friendships, and what makes you happy. High school is just one chapter; there’s so much more ahead! You never know what the future holds, and relationships can often be much clearer and more fulfilling once you’ve had a bit of time away. Good luck with everything, and enjoy the last couple of months!

How much does your school typically raise for prom? At my school, senior classes usually generate around $100,000 for prom, which is quite common in my area. I’m curious to see how this compares to other places. What’s the budget like at your high school? Thanks!
