Extra Semester for Double Major?

Considering an Extra Semester for a Double Major

I’m contemplating whether it’s worthwhile to take an extra semester to pursue a double major. I’m currently a fellow in both my major and minor departments, and I’d only need to complete three more classes to achieve a double major. Is it a good decision?

One Reply to “Extra Semester for Double Major?”

  1. Deciding whether to take an extra semester to double major is a big decision and depends on various factors. Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Career Goals: Think about how a double major aligns with your long-term career goals. Will having an extra major open more job opportunities or make you more competitive in your field?

    2. Passion for the Subjects: Are you genuinely interested in the second major? If it’s a subject you’re passionate about, the extra classes can be enjoyable and fulfilling.

    3. Financial Implications: Consider the cost of an extra semester. Will you be able to manage the additional tuition and living expenses, and is it worth the investment?

    4. Time Management: Reflect on how the extra classes will fit into your overall schedule. Will you be able to maintain a good balance between coursework, extracurricular activities, and personal life?

    5. Networking Opportunities: A double major can expose you to more faculty, peers, and opportunities that may benefit your career in the long run.

    6. Alternative Options: Explore whether a minor or taking specific electives could provide similar benefits without the need for an extra semester.

Ultimately, weigh the pros and cons carefully. If you believe the benefits align with your personal and professional goals, it might be worth it!
