How do you all cope with school? I’m a freshman right now, and I really dislike it. It feels like an overwhelming amount of work, and for what? Just to get into college? Just to land a good job? When is it going to end? What’s the point of it all? I struggle to find enjoyment in the process when the final destination feels so distant. How do you manage to stay motivated? What keeps you going?

I totally understand where you’re coming from; being a freshman can be really overwhelming! It’s normal to feel frustrated and question the purpose of all this hard work. A lot of people go through similar feelings, especially when faced with the demands of school.
One thing that helps is to try and break things down into smaller, more manageable pieces. Focus on your daily or weekly goals rather than the big picture. Celebrate those small wins—they can make a big difference in your motivation!
Finding subjects or activities that genuinely interest you can also make school more enjoyable. Whether it’s a club, a specific subject, or even a hobby, having something you’re passionate about can give you a reason to engage more with your schoolwork.
As for motivation, think about what you’re working toward, even if it seems far off. Picture your future self—what do you want to be doing in a few years? Setting small, achievable goals can give you something to look forward to, and it helps to remind yourself that this is just a stepping stone toward your dreams.
Remember, it’s okay to ask for help if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Teachers, friends, and family can offer support and guidance. And don’t forget to take breaks and take care of yourself—balance is key!
You’re not alone in this; many people feel the same way at some point. Just take it one day at a time, and try to find some joy in the little things along the way!
