I’m struggling to fulfill my foreign language requirement for my A&S degree. I only need one more semester of Latin to graduate, but I just can’t seem to do it. I usually pick up languages easily at first, but when it comes to integrating everything, I panic. The overwhelming pressure makes it difficult for me to participate, especially since my anxiety kicks in when I know my translations aren’t accurate. This is why I only managed to complete two years of Spanish in high school and two semesters of German in community college instead of sticking with one language. I had to drop this class last year, and I’m facing the same challenges again this year. It feels nearly impossible for me to pass at this point. I can’t wait a whole year to retake it. Is it really going to come down to not getting my Biology degree because of one semester of Latin? It feels so frustrating.
