I don’t get how some of you guys are taking AP classes as freshmen or have 2.0 GPAs with 4 AP classes

I’m really puzzled by how some students can take AP classes as freshmen or maintain a 2.0 GPA while enrolled in four AP classes. Is there no prerequisite requirement at your school? At mine, you have to complete specific prerequisite courses and achieve good grades in them before you can sign up for AP classes.

  1. It can definitely be surprising to see such a variety of academic paths in different schools! Some schools have more flexible policies regarding AP classes, which allows students to take them earlier or without the same prerequisites. Others emphasize a more structured approach to ensure students are fully prepared. It might also depend on individual performance and academic support available at each school. It’s great that your school sets prerequisites to help students succeed—it can make a big difference in their readiness for AP courses!
