I hate not having close friends

I’m really struggling with the lack of close friendships in my life. During my first year of high school, I knew absolutely no one. Although I’ve made several friends since then, they all seem to have deeper connections with people they’ve known for longer, and I often feel like an afterthought.

I can’t help but question whether I’ll ever be someone’s best friend. It’s exhausting to always feel like the second choice and to be overlooked when I’m not there.

I originally thought I’d be busy this spring break, but with my plans falling through, I find myself at a loss for companionship. It seems like everyone has someone else they’d rather spend time with. It makes me wonder—why would anyone want to hang out with me when they have other, deeper connections?

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It’s tough when it seems like everyone around you has deep connections that you wish you could be a part of. Remember, it’s completely okay to feel this way, and you’re not alone in feeling like a second option sometimes.

Building close friendships takes time, and sometimes it can feel frustrating when you see others with long-standing bonds. But what’s important is that you are trying to build those connections and that you have friends who enjoy being around you, even if they have other friends too.

As for spring break, I know it’s disappointing when plans fall through, especially when it feels like everyone else is busy. It might be a good opportunity to reach out to your friends and see if any of them would like to hang out, even if it’s just a low-key meetup. You deserve to be around people who appreciate you!

Also, consider exploring new activities or groups where you can meet people with similar interests. Sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to unexpected friendships. Remember, the right people will recognize your value, and you’ll find your place where you feel appreciated. Take care of yourself, and keep putting yourself out there—you never know what connections might bloom!
