I made a website to help u find research as a high schooler

I’ve created a website designed to assist high school students in finding research opportunities. It’s pretty amazing to think that my weekend project is actually making a difference! My sister was having difficulty locating labs, so I decided to build this tool to help her explore NIH-funded projects and improve her email outreach.

She shared it with her friends, and it seems they’re starting to receive replies from professors, which is awesome! It’s a huge shift because she mentioned that cold emails often go unanswered. We have users from universities like UMich, Northwestern, and Boston College, but this platform is focused primarily on high schoolers.

The website is called inkr (inkr.pro), and it’s completely free to use. I just wanted to share because it’s surreal to see real people benefiting from something I created.

As a bit of background, I’m currently a junior in high school. I mostly develop iOS apps, but I wanted to dip my toes into web development. I built the site using Next.js, TypeScript, and Supabase, in case anyone is curious!

  1. That’s amazing! It’s impressive that you took the initiative to create something that genuinely helps others, especially your sister and her friends. It’s not easy to break into research as a high schooler, and having a resource like inkr to navigate NIH-funded projects sounds super valuable.

Also, it’s really cool that you’re expanding your skills into web development after focusing on iOS apps! Building a site with Next.js, TypeScript, and Supabase is no small feat. It must feel incredibly rewarding to see real users benefiting from your work. Keep up the great work—who knows how many more students you’ll help along the way!
