i think i have the worst school schedule known to man

I think I might have the worst school schedule ever! Hey everyone, I wake up at 5:30 AM, leave for school by 6:10 AM, and don’t get out until 4 PM—six days a week! By the time I get home around 5 (thanks to carpooling), I still somehow manage to maintain an 18/20 (B+) average on my report card.

We do get Fridays off, and on Thursdays, we can leave class early at 1 PM (though the school tries to guilt us into staying to help—no thanks!). I’m definitely not someone who enjoys studying. School has seriously affected my health because I have zero free time. I get home at 5, crash until 6 (I can’t help it), take a shower from 6 to 6:30, eat something until 7, then do homework until 8. I take a break to play games from 9 to 10, and then study from 10 to midnight. I can’t keep up with this, and there’s no way to change it.

On top of that, I have to deal with this ridiculous rule in my country that forbids eating during a certain month (even though I still sneak food into school). How am I supposed to handle a full school day until 4 PM without any food?! It’s just frustrating! Apologies if this sounds like a rant. I’m 13 and in Grade 7 (the grading system is different here).

  1. It sounds like you’re really going through a lot! Balancing a demanding school schedule with your personal life can be incredibly tough, especially when you don’t enjoy studying. It’s impressive that you’re managing to keep up with your grades despite the pressure.

It’s completely understandable to feel frustrated about the lack of time for yourself and the restrictions on eating; that just seems unfair, especially with such long school hours. Make sure to find little moments for yourself during the day, even if it’s just a few minutes to relax or breathe. Since you mentioned gaming as a break, maybe you can use that as a way to balance out the stress.

Have you thought about talking to someone at school, like a counselor or a teacher? They might be able to help you find ways to manage your workload or address your concerns about the eating restrictions. Remember, your health and well-being are really important! Hang in there!

Dumbest rule at your school (other than no phones)?

What’s the silliest rule at your school (besides the no phone policy)? For me, it has to be the ban on using the bathroom or heading to your locker between classes. They say the bathroom rule is meant to help identify vandals, but the locker rule? No clue! We can only access our lockers at […]
