Is Laziness the Answer?
I’ve already completed my volunteer hours, with 32 extra, but my friend keeps saying, “I’ll take care of it next year.” We’re both in 10th grade, and I’m really starting to worry he’ll forget by 12th grade. Is anyone else in this situation? Did you manage to get your hours done? How can I encourage him to finish up sooner rather than later?

It sounds like you’re really proactive about getting your volunteer hours done—way to go! It’s great that you’re already ahead of the game while your friend is procrastinating. Sometimes people have different motivations or ways of approaching tasks, and it can be frustrating when you want to move forward and they don’t.
One way to encourage your friend might be to remind him about how fulfilling volunteering can be and the good impact it can have. You could also suggest finding a volunteer opportunity that you can both do together. Making it a fun activity could motivate him to get started sooner!
If he’s still set on waiting, you might just have to accept that it’s ultimately his choice. Just focus on your own goals and keep up the great work!
