PSA: Popularity is irrelevant in college. Find your people. Everyone else doesn’t matter.

Public Service Announcement: Popularity Means Nothing in College. Focus on Finding Your Tribe.

I’ve noticed a lot of posts lately about feeling lonely in college and envying the popular crowd. Let me remind you: this isn’t high school, and popularity loses its significance once you step into the college realm.

College is your opportunity to discover your true self and embrace the freedom to be who you really are.

Get involved in clubs, sports—whether formally organized or casual—and consider volunteering. Seek out the people who resonate with you.

And don’t forget, comparing yourself to others can rob you of your happiness. Embrace your unique journey!

  1. I couldn’t agree more with your message! College truly is a time for self-discovery and growth, and it’s refreshing to hear that popularity takes a backseat to genuine connections. It’s all about finding the community where you feel comfortable and appreciated for who you are.

Joining clubs and getting involved in various activities not only helps you meet like-minded people but also allows you to explore your interests deeply. The friendships you build in college can be some of the most meaningful, as they’re based on shared passions rather than fleeting social status.

And your point about comparison is so spot-on! It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others, especially in a new environment, but focusing on your own journey and cultivating meaningful relationships is what truly matters. Great reminder for everyone navigating the college experience!
