Story time on the time I got expelled for a year.

Let me share a wild story about the time I got expelled for a year. This all happened during the last few months of my 9th-grade year, and honestly, it was such an unusual time in my life. 😭

At that point, Instagram was buzzing with various quirky accounts that posted everything from people sleeping to eating – you name it! My friends and I were brainstorming ridiculous ideas for accounts, and then my best friend suggested creating a Confessions account.

I thought it was a brilliant idea, so I went ahead and set it up! The way it worked was simple: users could submit their confessions anonymously through a Google form. (Looking back, that was a huge mistake.)

Initially, the account didn’t gain much traction, but things took off in 10th grade! I found it fascinating. The confessions were all over the place, and some were pretty alarming. Of course, being naive, I didn’t realize I should have reported some of the more concerning ones. (Keep this in mind.)

One day, while sifting through confessions to prepare a post, I came across one that threatened to shoot up the school. Naturally, I was terrified and turned to my friends for advice. One of them suggested I inform a teacher.

So, I did. I reported it to the staff without thinking too much of it. Fast forward two weeks, and I get called to the main office, only to find out I was suspended.

Here’s the kicker: they didn’t expel me for running the account or even because they thought I was the one behind the threat. Nope! They thanked me for reporting the threat. I was expelled because I hadn’t informed the school about someone having a crush on a teacher?!

So here I was, a straight-A student, always on time, never causing trouble—and I got expelled.

Oh, and just to add, the day of that threat came and went without any incident, thank goodness.

People’s reactions when I share this story are always priceless. They can’t believe someone like me could ever get expelled.

I’m just grateful that the person handling my case decided it wouldn’t be on my transcript.

Now, as a senior, I sometimes reflect on that crazy chapter of my life.
