Technical School Shop Help :’)

Need Help with Technical School Dilemma :’)

Hi everyone! I hope it’s okay to ask for some advice here—this is my first time posting on Reddit and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. I’m currently attending a technical school and recently chose a permanent shop to join. Unfortunately, it’s been just a few weeks, and I’m really struggling. I can’t quite explain how stressed it’s making me; I’ve even gone home in tears.

The shop isn’t all bad, but I’m having a tough time grasping some of the material. There’s another shop I initially considered that I’m now regretting not choosing. However, I’m torn about switching. The shop I want to move to has some people I don’t particularly get along with, and it has a reputation for being the “weird” shop, even though I’ve always enjoyed its material.

Right now, I really dislike the material in my current shop, but I love the people. I know switching would make me anxious, and I don’t want to hurt my friends’ feelings, especially since there are so few of us in this shop. Both teachers in each shop have been really supportive of me, which makes this even harder.

I’m just feeling really stuck and dread going to school every week. I apologize if this post is out of place; I didn’t know where else to turn. If you have any advice or questions, I’m happy to clarify in the comments! Thank you! :’)

  1. It sounds like you’re in a really tough spot, and it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed. Choosing between your current shop and the one you’re considering is a big decision, especially when emotions and friendships are involved.

It’s important to prioritize your own well-being and interests. If you’re feeling stressed and unhappy in your current shop, that’s a significant issue that shouldn’t be overlooked. It might help to think about what you truly want to learn and where you’ll be most comfortable; passion for the material can make a huge difference in your experience.

When considering switching shops, think about a few key points:

    1. Interest vs. Environment: It sounds like you have a strong interest in the material in the other shop. If that’s where your passion lies, it might be worth exploring. A supportive environment is great, but it’s also crucial to enjoy what you’re doing.

    2. Social Dynamics: It’s understandable to feel hesitant about being around people you don’t get along with. However, new connections can sometimes emerge in unexpected places. You might find common ground with people you initially perceive as “weird.”

    3. Anxiety About Change: It’s okay to feel anxious about switching shops, but sometimes a change can also lead to growth and new opportunities. Remember, it’s normal to feel nervous when stepping into something new.

    4. Communication: If you do decide to switch, it might help to talk to your friends about your feelings. Good friends will understand that you need to prioritize your happiness and goals.

    5. Talk to Your Teachers: Since the teachers in both shops support you, consider having an honest conversation with them about your feelings. They might offer valuable advice and insight that could help you make your decision.

Ultimately, trust your instincts and choose what feels right for you. You deserve to be in a place that excites you and allows you to thrive. Good luck, and remember to take care of yourself during this process!

I’m pissed right now

I’m really frustrated right now. During a demonstration by my teacher, some kid snuck up on me and did that annoying thing (👉🍑 you know, the “thousand years of death”). I jolted up in surprise, and of course, my teacher saw that part and thought I was just messing around, so they sent ME outside. […]
