Was I dumb to not use the other two attempts on my exam to focus on a class I was doing worse in?

Did I make a mistake by not using my two remaining attempts on the exam to focus on a class where I’m struggling more? This is an online class, and I scored an 85 on the exam, which puts my overall class grade at an 87. I chose not to use the other attempts because I was more concerned about improving in another class where I’m currently at an 80.

Do you think I should have tried to improve my exam score, or was it wiser to concentrate on the class I’m doing worse in?

I’m leaning towards the first option, but I struggled to find the motivation since an 85 isn’t terrible, even though it could be better.

Edit: I still have 3 more exams and about 10 quizzes left to complete.

  1. It sounds like you made a thoughtful decision, especially considering that you already have a solid score on that exam. An 85 is a commendable grade, and if your overall average in the class is still strong, it’s understandable that you felt less pressure to improve that specific score.

That said, it’s also important to consider your overall goals and how each class fits into that. If the class where you’re struggling (with an 80) is crucial for your major or future coursework, it might have been beneficial to devote some time to it instead.

Since you still have three exams and ten quizzes left, you have plenty of opportunities to bolster your grades. You might want to use those future assessments to focus on areas where you feel you need improvement while maintaining your performance in both classes. Balance is key, and it sounds like you’re aware of that. Trust yourself, and keep a close eye on your progress in both classes as the semester continues!
