Definitely agree with the diary entry assignment! It seems like every English class loves to have students step into a character’s shoes. Another classic is the “write a letter to a historical figure” assignment—it’s a great way to get creative, but it’s been done to death. And how could we forget the infamous book reports? Nothing like summarizing a story to feel like you’re really diving deep into it!
