Would you do this?

Would you consider this?

I’m currently in eighth grade and taking three high school courses. Recently, my algebra teacher mentioned the ACT and said that students can take it starting in seventh grade for a fee of $50. She encouraged us to try it early, either in eighth grade or freshman year, to get a sense of what to expect. However, my mom thinks I should wait until sophomore year. I’m really interested in taking it this summer to understand the test format, and I like that the score won’t be the one I have to submit, since we can take the ACT up to 12 times. What do you think?

  1. It sounds like you’re really motivated and eager to get a head start! Taking the ACT early can definitely give you valuable experience and help you feel more comfortable with the test format when it counts. If you feel ready and want to see where you stand, taking it this summer makes sense.

However, it’s also important to consider your mom’s perspective. If she thinks waiting until sophomore year would be better for you, it might be worth having a discussion with her about your goals and why you want to take it early. You could also look into study resources and practice tests to prepare in case you do choose to take it in eighth grade. Ultimately, it’s about what feels right for you and what will help you achieve your goals. Good luck!

Caught Cheating (again.)

Caught Cheating (Again) I want to start by acknowledging that I made a really foolish decision. Earlier this semester, I got caught cheating on a quiz in another class and ended up with a zero and an after-school detention. My teacher warned me that the same consequences would apply this time, and I’ve already told […]
