Biology or Chemistry in High School?
Hey everyone! I’m about to enter my senior year of high school in Japan. We have a three-year curriculum, and so far, I’ve taken one year of physics, two years of biology, and two years of chemistry. I’m planning to pursue a nursing career in the US, but my school only allows us to choose between Biology or Chemistry for our final year. Which subject do you think I should pick?
Hi! It’s great to hear that you’re planning to pursue nursing. Since you’re aiming for a nursing career, I would recommend taking Biology for your last year in high school. Biology will provide you with a solid foundation in understanding human anatomy, physiology, and other essential concepts related to health and medicine, which are all critical for nursing.
However, keep in mind that Chemistry also plays a significant role in nursing, especially in understanding medications and biochemistry. If you have the opportunity to take supplementary chemistry courses outside of school or in college, that could help balance your knowledge.
Ultimately, if you feel more confident in Biology and are interested in the human aspects of science, go for that! Good luck with your decision!
