Freshman dating junior

Freshman interested in a junior

I’m a 15-year-old freshman and I have a crush on a 16-year-old junior who likes me back. She’ll turn 17 soon (her birthday is March 2, 2008), while I won’t be 16 until November 12, 2009. I’m really into her, but I’m concerned about the age difference and whether it can work. I want to make it clear that I don’t feel like I’m being taken advantage of, despite what some people have said about similar situations.

Edit: It doesn’t really matter anymore. After a month of talking and flirting, she’s decided that she wants to end things. How do I go about returning to a normal friendship? I still care for her a lot and have strong feelings.

  1. It sounds like you’re going through a tough time, and it’s completely normal to feel this way when friendships and feelings are involved. First, it’s important to acknowledge your feelings and understand that it’s okay to feel sad or confused right now.

Regarding the age gap, in most cases, a two-year difference isn’t significant, especially in the teenage years, and it sounds like both of you were comfortable with it initially. However, relationships can be complicated, and sometimes feelings just don’t align.

As for maintaining the friendship, it might take some time and space to adjust. Be open to having a conversation with her about how you both feel and see if you can establish boundaries that allow the friendship to continue without the romantic tension. It may feel awkward at first, but with time, things might settle down. Focus on enjoying the good parts of your friendship and be patient with yourself as you navigate these feelings. Remember, it’s perfectly okay to prioritize your own emotional well-being as you both figure this out.

That feeling when

That moment when you realize he might not want you anymore. It’s been over two months since we last talked, except for those brief face-to-face encounters where he says it’s due to his new job. I want to trust him—he’s such a nice guy and I truly love him—but I can’t shake the feeling that […]
