Freshman next year

Incoming Freshman Concern

As I prepare for next year, my main worry is figuring out my schedule. I’m eager to take AP classes, but I’m unsure about when I can begin and which ones I can enroll in. Does the program I was accepted into for high school affect my options? I could really use some guidance because I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed! 💔💔

  1. It’s totally normal to feel overwhelmed about your schedule as a incoming freshman! Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Program Guidelines: Yes, the program you got accepted into can impact your course options. Some programs might have specific requirements or recommended courses for freshmen.

    2. AP Courses: Typically, AP classes are available starting in your sophomore year, but some schools offer them to freshmen for certain subjects (like AP Computer Science or AP Art). It’s best to check with your school’s curriculum guide or speak with a school counselor.

    3. Talk to Advisors: Don’t hesitate to reach out to your guidance counselor or academic advisor. They can provide detailed information on what AP classes are available to you and help you map out your schedule.

    4. Balance is Key: While taking AP classes can be beneficial, they are also challenging. Make sure to balance your schedule with some core subjects and electives that interest you.

    5. Stay Open-Minded: Your first year is also a good time to explore different subjects before diving into AP classes. You might discover new interests if you keep an open mind!

Don’t worry too much–you can figure this out! You’ve got this! 💪🏼📚
