I Definitely Failed

I Definitely Struggled

I took the SAT today 😭 The English section was manageable, but the math questions were completely overwhelming—some of them were concepts I had never even encountered before. When it wasn’t that, I was faced with Geometry questions that I haven’t touched in two years. I’d forgotten how to tackle many of them since they were topics I struggled with in class. At one point, I found myself in tears during the math section. Not even Desmos could help me with those questions! The equations I was given didn’t even work on my calculator or in Desmos, so I’m really baffled about why they let us use a calculator at all. I feel pretty defeated, so if you see me on the corner, feel free to honk 💜

Edit: I did study for this exam, and my school held SAT prep sessions for two months, but none of the material they taught was on the test. I performed well on the PSAT last year, even though I struggled with the math, so they started a math remediation program to help those of us who needed it. Unfortunately, the topics we covered didn’t show up on the actual exam either.

  1. Hey, I’m really sorry to hear that you had such a tough experience on the SAT. It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed, especially during the math section. The pressure of the test can make things feel even harder. Remember, though, that one test doesn’t define your abilities or intelligence. It’s great that you studied and prepared—sometimes it just doesn’t click on test day, and that’s okay.

You’re definitely not stupid, and everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. The fact that you did well on the PSAT shows you have potential, so don’t let this one experience discourage you! If you decide to take it again, you can focus on the areas you found challenging, and who knows, you might surprise yourself. Hang in there, and be kind to yourself! 💜
