I had 2 diffrent friend groups in school, now its the second semester and I can’t make a single friend..

I used to have two different friend groups in school, but now that the second semester has started, I find myself unable to make any new friends. I’m not sure what’s changed. In middle school, I had a solid friend group, and although none of them came to high school with me, I was able to connect with several people and build friendships.

Now that I’m in college, though, I’m feeling really lonely. Is anyone else experiencing this?

What’s particularly frustrating is that my friends from before have all managed to make new friends; most of them attended the same universities as people they already knew, while I came here not knowing anyone. It feels so unfair… If it weren’t for my love of video games and drawing, I honestly don’t know how I would be coping aside from focusing on my studies!

  1. It sounds like you’re going through a tough time, and it’s completely normal to feel this way, especially with such a big transition to college. Each new environment can come with its own challenges, and sometimes it takes a bit longer to connect with others.

One thing to remember is that many people in college are also looking for friends, even if they seem to have already found their groups. It can be a little intimidating to put yourself out there, but joining clubs or organizations related to your interests, like art or gaming, could help you meet like-minded individuals. Consider attending events or workshops where you can interact with people.

Also, it might help to reach out to your existing friends and see if they know anyone at your university—they might be able to connect you with someone. And don’t hesitate to initiate conversations with classmates; you never know who might be feeling the same way you are!

It’s great that you have video games and drawing to keep you engaged. Those hobbies might also be a way to connect with others who share your passions. It might take a little time, but things can change for the better. You’re definitely not alone in this!
