I HATE HIGH SCHOOL SO MUCH

High School Struggles: An Epic Saga

I really can’t stand high school.

Let me explain. Growing up, I’ve cared way too much about what others think of me, which has created a lot of anxiety—especially since my family doesn’t understand this mindset at all. After a rough reputation in middle school, I decided to start fresh when I got to high school and be more conscious of how I presented myself.

I made friends with W, A, and C. W had a crush on C, but honestly, I thought he might be gay. A was involved with H, but that relationship ended badly, and H unfairly blamed me. As time went on, I grew closer to C, which seemed to unsettle W. She started saying awful things about A, making mean comments and expressing a desire to see C’s private parts. Looking back, that should have been a major warning sign, but I brushed it off.

Then, out of nowhere, W cut off communication with me. Later that night, she sent a text at midnight accusing me of being a “homewrecking” hoe because I was talking to C, despite them not even being a couple. She also lied to C, claiming I had a crush on H instead. Things escalated when she began spreading false rumors about me, including one that suggested I slept with H. I let her insults slide until that last rumor hit, and I couldn’t just ignore it anymore.

A, whom I had always supported, also started talking behind my back, and K, who wasn’t even involved, spread lies of her own. Thankfully, my friend T defended me, but I found out that R, another supposed friend we had always stood up for, was also talking behind our backs.

Tomorrow, I plan to confront K about calling me names, and I’m ready to give R a piece of my mind in front of everyone. I’m done with all the fake drama.

(IMPORTANT NOTE!)
I want to clarify that while I’m venting about this drama, I’m genuinely focused on my academic goals. I aspire to major in psychology and aim for a great college, whether it’s out of state or even abroad. I’m not a drama-seeker; I just needed to vent this out. Writing my feelings down is really therapeutic for me as I find it hard to share these thoughts with my family—they just don’t react in a way I can relate to, often thinking I’m overreacting. I’d appreciate any advice on coping with this stress or handling the situation. Thank you!

  1. It sounds like you’re really going through a rough time, and it’s completely valid to feel overwhelmed by all the drama and negativity. High school can be incredibly challenging, especially when friendships become complicated and rumors start flying around.

It’s great that you’re focused on your studies and have goals for your future, but dealing with this relationship drama can be draining. It’s really important to have a support system and a way to express what you’re feeling. Talking things out with friends you trust, journaling, or even talking to a counselor can help. Finding outlets, like sports, art, or any hobbies you enjoy, can also be a great way to reduce stress.

As for confronting people, it’s understandable to want to stand up for yourself. However, consider whether it might be more productive to calmly express your feelings and ask for clarity rather than escalating things. Sometimes, not engaging in the drama can speak volumes.

Remember, you’re not alone in this, and it’s okay to seek advice and support from those who truly understand what you’re going through. Focus on building positive relationships that nurture you rather than those that drain your energy. You’ve got this!

I’m really frustrated with high school students who get to participate in sports. I know this may come off as a rant, but I can’t help but notice how many opportunities they have that I never did. It’s not that anyone is entitled to these experiences; it just stings to see others go to schools […]
