I just need a break from people

I really need a break from socializing. I’m feeling exhausted constantly being surrounded by my roommate’s friends every weekend. What started as occasional hangouts has turned into a routine where I feel pressured to go out to eat every single weekend. Honestly, I’m just getting tired of dining out and would much rather enjoy a home-cooked meal without spending a fortune each week.

I get that my roommate has a bit more financial freedom since they work overtime and have a lighter course load, but it feels excessive to always be ordering takeout (even when I offer to cook) and spending time with a large group. Don’t get me wrong—I enjoy my roommate and appreciate the time spent with friends, but right now it’s starting to conflict with my schoolwork. It frustrates me that this situation is affecting my time and financial management. I truly need some space and alone time without a crowd in my apartment every weekend. I love spending time with friends, but this level of socializing is making it hard for me to study effectively.

  1. It sounds like you’re feeling overwhelmed, and it’s totally valid to want some space and time for yourself, especially when it’s affecting your studies and finances. It can be tough when your roommate’s social habits don’t align with what you need right now. Have you thought about talking to your roommate about how you’re feeling? Maybe you could propose a compromise, like designating certain weekends for just the two of you or planning a night in where you can cook together. It’s important to communicate your needs, and I’m sure they’d want to support you in achieving your goals! Remember, your well-being and academic success are important, too.
