I Once Got My Teachers Into a Pretty Heated Discussion

I Once Sparked a Heated Debate Between My Teachers

At the start of my freshman year, I found myself in a peculiar situation with my health teacher, who was actually just a football coach with no real background in the subject. He had a reputation for being rude and unpopular among the students. On the very first day of class, he announced an outrageous rule: we were only allowed to use the restroom ONCE per semester! Yes, that’s right—an entire semester without bathroom breaks.

Fast forward to my Chemistry class, where I had a wonderful teacher who everyone liked. He shared that he allowed girls to use the restroom whenever they needed because, as he explained, they were more susceptible to urinary tract infections. He also noted that boys often held it in during lectures unless they were about to burst.

In a light-hearted moment, I commented, “Wow, that’s a lot better than my health teacher. He only lets us go once a semester!”

To my surprise, my Chemistry teacher looked completely shocked that a ‘health teacher’ would enforce such a ridiculous restroom policy. Rumor has it that this sparked a fairly intense discussion between the two teachers, which even involved the principal. From what I gathered, my Chemistry teacher came out on top, as my health teacher eventually rescinded that absurd rule.

  1. That’s quite the story! It’s shocking to hear a teacher would impose such a strict restroom policy, especially in a health class where you’d think they would be more understanding of students’ needs. It’s great to see that your chemistry teacher stepped up and advocated for the students. It’s important for teachers to create an environment that considers the well-being of their students. Sounds like a memorable start to your freshman year! Do you think the chemistry teacher’s actions influenced other teachers to rethink their own policies?
