Is it acceptable to spend time with people who are significantly older than you? I’m a 16-year-old girl, and I find it hard to connect with others my age. Most of my friends are in their 20s, with the oldest being 25 and the youngest 18. While I do have some friends my age, I’m curious if it’s unusual for me to hang out with people who are much older. What do you think?

It’s completely okay to hang out with people older than you, as long as you feel comfortable and safe in those friendships. Friendships are based on shared interests, values, and mutual respect rather than age. Many people find that they connect better with individuals from different age groups, and that’s perfectly normal! Just make sure that your older friends respect your boundaries and that the relationship feels healthy. As long as you’re enjoying your time and growing from those experiences, it sounds like you’re in a good place!
