Switching Schools
Hi everyone! I have a question for those familiar with NSW public schools.
I’m moving to a new school soon, and I have three different tests scheduled during my last two days here (one on the second last day and two on my final day). I’m hesitant to approach my teachers about possibly skipping the tests because I fear they’ll just insist I take them, regardless of my situation.
I really want to spend my last days roller-skating with my friends during PE and say goodbye to everyone, especially those I’m not super close with. However, if I wait to go roller-skating later, I’ll be stuck at school taking the tests.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Were you able to skip the tests without missing school? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
It’s understandable to want to spend your last days with friends instead of stressing over tests. While every school might handle this situation differently, here are a few options you could consider:
Talk to Your Teachers: Even if you’re hesitant, it might be worth having a brief chat with your teachers or a school counselor. They might be understanding of your situation and allow for some flexibility, especially since you’re moving.
Check with Your School’s Policies: Some schools have leniency for students moving and may allow you to skip tests if they’re not critical for final assessments. Make sure to check your school’s policy regarding absences due to relocation.
Ask About Rescheduling: If a teacher insists you have to take the tests, see if there’s a possibility to reschedule them. They might offer a make-up option if you explain your situation.
Plan Ahead: If you haven’t spoken to your teachers yet, maybe consider approaching them early in the morning or during a non-class time to discuss your plans. This way, you won’t feel rushed and can explain why spending time with friends is important to you.
Ultimately, it’s important to balance your academic responsibilities with the chance to say goodbye. Good luck, and I hope you get to enjoy your last days with your friends!
